Types of Support
Organizations may apply for 1, 2 or 3 years of funding, ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 per year (for a $300,000 total maximum). Receiving the maximum $100,000/year request amount is rare and occurs only when the Foundation deems unique strategic alignment between Cullen Foundation's mission and the program's outcomes. Multi-year grants are made only when the Foundation believes the multi-year nature of the request is essential to the project's success.
Cullen Foundation has established the following types of support:
- Program support
- General operating support
- Capital (building or equipment)
- Capacity building support
Performing arts grants will be limited to organizations where the primary focus/mission is community performances.
Beginning in January 2019, Cullen Foundation is piloting an “Action Grant” opportunity, a pilot program to expedite smaller requests (i.e. under $7,500) from past performing arts grantees. Action Grant applications will be accepted from past grantees (since 2015) in good standing with no current open grants. All other Cullen eligibility requirements and criteria must still be met.
The streamlined, one-step Action Grant application process (i.e. no LOI) will run on a rolling basis and applications and will be processed within six (6) weeks; requests can be made for one to three years of funding; and fund disbursement is expedited.
- Program / project support
- Capital / physical infrastructure
Cullen Foundation’s focus is on programs that have specific academic outcomes and an evaluation process that supports continuous improvement. Evidence-based programs will be given priority.
Field trip funds/programs, museum exhibits, recreational camps or recreation-based programs, internship programs, “arts in education” programs, professional development programs/services, education resource rooms/drop in centers, skills and job training programs, transportation requests and individual schools will not be supported.
Please review the eligibility criteria for further details.
